Structural Details of the Great Pattern

The Great Pattern, the third pattern discovered by the author, lead to the development of many of the growth rules incorporated within the Expansions programs. The pattern started growing from a point in the lower center of the image, outwards in all directions. Refer to the Manual Era within the Expansions History and Principles section for a detailed discussion of the Great Pattern. Color Expansions contains cellular automata rules (Color Logic) and these functions were used to assist in the coloring of the Great Pattern after it was grown. Of particular note are rules that enable the placement of bands of color along side other colors.
