Puzzle 667 - Detail

Puzzle 667 - Figural set - Reverse

This puzzle and puzzle #669 were from a series of pictures I took on December 21, 2005 when the surf was up due to a distant Pacific storm.

As it happened (from my Journal archives)

April 28, 2006

Friday 4:48 pm - Long focused day at the shop today. Early this morning I decided to up the piece count for the eBay puzzle from 350 to 400. I cut around 225 of the now projected 410 pieces, as well as the border (straight edge), the figurals, and I subdivided the remaining section into smaller chunks. Cutting going very well. This weekend I have scheduling conflicts but I do plan to complete the puzzle tomorrow; the auction will likely have to wait until Sunday.

The puzzle will have four figurals: Dolphin, Shark, The Observer and a Mermaid, and of course my signature piece.

Sunday 12:28 am - I completed Waves at Imperial Beach Saturday, working most of the morning and squeezing the rest in late in the afternoon. Puzzle looks excellent. Auction will start sometime around mid Sunday afternoon. I'll take Monday off and then start the last customer puzzle in the backlog on Tuesday.

Sunday 3:10 pm - Auction launched. Final piece count 413.

From the auction description:

This puzzle features a photograph I took of the Pacific Ocean surf at Imperial Beach, CA driven by a distant storm on December 21, 2005.

This puzzle is cut in my Swirl Curl style and includes my standard signature piece (signed, dated and numbered on the back) and a second piece (The Observer figural) marked on the back indicating the puzzle belongs to the 100 Puzzles Project. There is no color line cutting in this puzzle and the edges are fully interlocking. The puzzle has a nice panoramic looked to it being 22" wide by 9.9" high. The Swirl Curl cutting style looks impressive in the sky area. This puzzle has 413 pieces. Note: I cut my jigsaw puzzles using a scroll saw, hand guiding the wood into the blade, this is not a laser or water jet cut puzzle.
