Thursday 5:55 pm - Started cutting #697 Spectra 2 - initial board subdivision and edges are done, plus around 50 pieces. Cutting will continue tomorrow. Spectra 2 will be an extremely difficult puzzle to assemble!

Friday - after midnight - Cut about 230 more pieces of the Spectra 2 puzzle today - cutting going well.

December 10, 2006

Sunday 4:05 pm - On Saturday I cut another 70 or so pieces of Spectra 2, and today I completed it, total piece count is in the 505-510 range. Tomorrow I will have pictures, a final piece count, a discussion and launch the auction.

Monday 8:02 pm - Auction launched, preliminary piece count 513.

From the auction description:

The 100 Puzzles Project now completes it's seventh year! This is the first year in which I offered a project puzzle in each of the 12 months. With 39 puzzles to go in the project, the project should end sometime in year 2010. I do not expect to repeat the 12 puzzles in one year pace, rather I'll slow down to around 10 puzzles year, still better than the earlier years when the pace was closer to 8.

As it is December, I continue the tradition of offering on of my Geometric Pattern puzzles within the project - the seventh one. This image is a variant of the original Spectra image offered in 2001 (see Spectra ), and was designed by me last month.

This puzzle is an extremely difficult puzzle to assemble. Except for the four white areas, this puzzle was cut in my Long Round cutting style with fairly small pieces, and includes my standard signature piece (signed, dated and numbered on the back) and a second piece (the Fractagon) marked on the back indicating the puzzle belongs to the 100 Puzzles Project. I cut this puzzle in my Creative style within the four white triangular areas. Piece which straddle the boundary have a Creative style within in the white area and a Long Round style within the other area.

The digital image, which I created using my own pattern generation software, was projected onto archival photographic film, via an amazing state of the art LightJet 430 printer. See LightJet. The actual image is larger and sharper than shown here.
