As it happened (from my Journal archives)

June 12, 2008

Thursday 11:18 pm - A cactus which after five years of struggling to remain above ground level at Mixed Media, suddenly bloomed!

Thursday 5:39 pm - A new puzzle cutting marathon is underway as I continue to focus on "The Monkey" (May-June-July). Early this morning I mounted #795 and #796, then designed the figural set for 795 (nine figurals). Later I started cutting #795 and in sustained periods of cutting cut about 215 pieces, obviously cutting at a faster rate than the previous puzzle! Cutting going well. I changed my mind about the style and am cutting the puzzle in Long Round instead of Swirl Curl. Cutting will continue tomorrow; I'm going to attempt to complete the puzzle. I plan to cut #796 over the weekend, good chance completion will slip into Monday and then immediately start the auction. #795 will ship on Monday.

Friday 6:27 pm - In a sustained effort I completed #795, Mombasa Market, an excellent Long Round puzzle with a cool figural set. As the puzzle is being purchased as a gift for someone who I think occasionally visits this journal, pictures will be held of until early July; I promise to post pictures! The puzzle has "around" 505, pieces. Will count / box / ship by Monday afternoon. I recently come across some "600" grit sandpaper, and tried it on this puzzle, the back is supersmooth. Previously I've been using "320" for the final sanding, upgrading over a year ago from "220".

Sunday 6:52 pm - Yesterday I had too many "maintenance" things to do, plus a good afternoon nap, and did not get any puzzle work done.

June 16, 2008

Monday 6:37 pm - Inspected, boxed, packed, shipped #795, Mombasa Market, final piece count 506.
