Puzzle #107 - Butcher on Break
Limited edition of ONE
This puzzle was the 10th Custom Puzzle Craft wooden jigsaw puzzle to be offered for sale on eBay in the ongoing 100 Puzzles Project of almost-monthly auctions, planned to run through the year 2008.
This puzzle, Butcher on Break, features an excellent photograph by master photographer Michael Seewald, the photographer who also did "Ghost of Florence", the first puzzle I offered, and "Blue Bottle, Venice, Italy" the fourth puzzle I offered. This photograph was also shot in Venice, Italy.
Michael writes: "Venice, Italy. Entitled "Butcher on Break", this image was created in what is sometimes called the "blue hour". Collectors ask if I use flash. I only use available light. This person, maybe a butcher, watched me tinker with my camera on top of its tripod. While pretending to work on the settings from the side of the camera, I counted off the seconds for the exposure, not looking at him at all. Unbeknownst to him, he became my "center of interest" in an already strong image, making it even more successful." Photograph sponsored by Jim & Mary Dredge of San Diego, California.
This puzzle is cut in my Swirl Curl style, my oldest style. There are two figurals in the puzzle. A seagull is perched on a ledge, above the first floor window to the left, facing the man on break, perhaps waiting for an eventual morsel of food to fall to the ground. Beneath the bridge, a fish also waits.
This puzzle measures 13 13/16 by 10 13/16 and contains 322 pieces, including my standard signature piece (signed, numbered and dated on the back). I also marked a second piece on the back, indicating the puzzle belongs to the 100 Puzzles Project.
